Lake Maggiore, Stresa, Barromees Islands & Bellagio (Villa Serbelloni)

This slide show includes images from the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees overlooking Lago (Lake) Maggiore. Additonal views of the lake from the opulent and refined Villa Aminta where we enjoyed a wonderful lunch starting with unbelievable "Risotto." Our host Roberto Lanetta, the owner of the Villa couldn't have been more charming and the hotel is a fine example of his and his wife's (Beatrice) fine taste.

You will then see a small collection of photos from the Barromees Islands which includes a view of the Isola Madre (the beautiful Island) and finally a walk through the gardens of Villa Melzi and see some photos of the Villa D'Este.

Dinner at The Regina Palace Hotel, Palace & Gardens at Isola Madre, The Alps

This slide show will continue with photos of our first night dinner at the 4 star Regina Palace Hotel, views of the beautiful hotels in Stresa and our boat ride to the Isola Madre island and our tour of the palace and royal gardens there.

We took an optional side trip on a cable car (Funivia) up to the top of the Mottarone where we enjoyed views of the the lakes but also the Alps. There are interior photos of The Grand Hotel Dino in Stresa and then onto Bellagio and the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni one of the most renowned deluxe resort properties in the area. Lake Coma, Bellagio, Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni & Villa D'Este

This slide show begins with dinner at the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni and then contiues on to Cernobbio and the world renowned principality of Villa D'Este on the banks of Lake Como. This hotel was indeed our favorite and a place where the "Rich & Famous" vacation. This hotel dates back more then 500 years when Cernobbio was a little village populated by fishermen and woodcutters.

The hotel now stands were some nuns who in 1442 took refuge from the civil war in a church which today you will find the park of Villa D'Este.

We were excited to find Ernest Borgnine vacationing their with what appeared to be his friends and family (he looked great with silver hair and that big smile).

You will also have an opportunity to meet all of our group and see lovely shots of each couple on the terrace of the villa overlooking the lake.

The Villa D'Este , Silk Factory Outlet & Farewell Dinner

This slide presentation continues at the Villa D'Este and a wild trip to the "Silk Factory Outlet" a high point for all the ladies (and some of the guys). Como was a thriving city famous in the 1500's for the silk manufacturing which is still a major industry in the area.

Then back to the Villa for our final dinner and a chance to thank Donna and her team for making this trip a reality for all the travel agents and their companions.

Lugano Switzerland

On the way to Cernobbio we took a side trip to Lugano, Switzerland. We were able to see some of the great shops, visit one of their beautiful food markets in the basement of one of their department stores and enjoy a leisurly lunch of Pizza from the wonderful restaurants that were threaded through the many streets we walked.
